Like so many artists before her, Azealia Banks once achieved the status of “next big thing.” And like so many artists before her, she’s failed to live up to the hype.

It’s been over two years since Banks released her breakthrough single “212” which brought her a ton of press and critical acclaim, not to mention a record contract from hip hop titan Interscope.

A few months later she released her 1991 EP, a solid appetizer for the main course that was supposed to be her debut album Broke With Expensive Taste. But that album never came.

Banks then teased us with the Fantasea mixtape in July of 2012, but everyone was waiting for a full-fledged album. A release date was set for later that year, but that came and went. Then we were told it was supposed to drop in 2013. Nope. The album was then pushed to this month, but that’s not going to happen either.

Banks now claims that her debut will be released in March but I’m not holding my breath. Sure, Axel eventually released Chinese Democracy, but it took him years to do that, and don’t even get me started on Dr. Dre!

Trust me, Dre. I haven’t forgotten about you.
