Triple Taylor Triumph at American Music Awards!!!

The American Music Awards failed to wow last night, chugging along like the second rate Grammys that is. I know that sounds harsh, y’all, but I’m just suffering from awards fatigue … and not being able to move my arms and legs (hey, I haven’t complained about that in a while so give me a break).

Yes, we did get a Miley Cyrus performance. And yes, that cat was adorable. But I have to admit, I kinda missed her VMAs/EMAs hijinks.

Taylor Swift, unsurprisingly. was the Queen T of the evening, walking away with three awards including artist of the year for a record third time.Other winners included Justin TImberlake for favorite male artist pop/rock AND soul/R&B (he’s so versatile!) Rihanna for favorite female artist soul/R&B and AVICII for favorite artist EDM.

Of course, I have to give a shout out to all my country peeps. Congrats to Luke Bryan for taking home favorite male artist country, Lady Antebellum for earning the favorite country band, duo or group award, and Florida Georgia Line along with Nelly for winning single of the year with their hit “Cruise.”

And I’m not talking country single of the year, I mean single of the year for ALL of music. Way to go, boys!!!

There were some other highlights throughout the evening including J. Lo’s emotional tribute to Celia Cruz, TLC’s performance with Lil’ Mama filling in for the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, and Lady Gaga’s weird performance with R. Kelly.

I’m still trying to wrap my head around that one!

All in all it was a decent enough of evening, especially for an event hosted by Pitbull. Hopefully there will be more fireworks in 2014.
