Hear Them Now: Cossbysweater

Hey! Hey! Hey! Theo! Jell-o pudding pops! All right, now that I have that out of my system I’d like to introduce you to Cossbysweater a.k.a Allie Goertz a.k.a. this week’s Hear Them Now pick.

Now as some of you might have heard, Hip Hop, sorry, Nerdcore and I had our differences these past few weeks. But everything is now cool as ice (ironic reference alert!) and I’m able to accept Nerdcore and his nerdish ways.

Which brings me to Cossbysweater, a phenomenally talented singer/songwriter who just so happens to describe her music as “nerdy love songs.” A quick glimpse of her YouTube page reveals just how accurate that is with such nerdtastic nuggets as “Everything’s Coming Up Milhouse,” “Pee Wee’s Song,” and Nerdcore’s personal favorite, “The Hobbit Song.”

“The Hobbit Song” is one of 13 tunes featured on Cossbysweater’s terrific self-titled debut album (available here). I should probably take the time to recognize the producers on the album. I forget their names but apparently one of them was in some movie with Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez.

I should check that out (ironically, of course). But you should DEFINITELY give Cossbysweater a listen/watch and then go ahead and tweet Ms. Goertz (@CossbySweater) and tell her how much you enjoy her music. Throw in a #MyMusic for good measure.

Of course, I would be remiss if I didn’t leave you with this glorious, as the kids like to say, GIF showcasing Cossbysweater’s inspiration in all its vibrant glory.

And one more for good measure.

Let us know in the comments below which up and coming artist should be next week’s “Hear Them Now” pick!
