Welcome Freshmen: 5 Favorite New Artists of 2013!

A lot of great new artists made some noise in 2013 so it’s safe the MyMusic staff had a hard time choosing their absolute favorite newbie. Though some of these picks had releases last year, 2013 is the year they truly shined!

Country’s Pick: Florida Georgia Line

My pick was a toss up between Kacey Musgraves and Florida Georgia Line but since Kacey got the Grammy love, I decided to go with FGL. The “Cruise” remix was absolute genius and songs like “Stay” and “Road Here” were on heavy rotation on my mPod.

Scene’s Pick: Lorde

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to any1 who reads this blog. By now every1 on this planet is familiar with “Royals,” but the rest of the songs Pure Heroine are also awesome!

Techno & Dubstep’s Pick: Disclosure

Disclosure brought classic house back with vengeance and a sound even Indie could appreciate! These brothers know how to make us dance!

Rayna’s Pick: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

2013 was such great year for Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. “Thrift Shop” and “Can’t Hold Us” dominated the charts and the duo’s awesomeness earned them a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. They so deserve to win!

Indie’s Pick: Haim

I know. I know. I said I would stop talking about Haim now that they’ve defied me and gone mainstream. But what can I say? I’m a sucker for three Jewish sisters who happen to make really great music.
