Many of you have probably heard Lady Gaga’s “Do What U Want,” her duet with R. Kelly off ARTPOP. You may have seen them perform the song on “Saturday Night Live” or on Gaga’s “VEVO Presents” concert.
But you definitely haven’t seen the official “Do What U Want” video because it hasn’t been released yet. The Terry Richardson (that sleazy dude who took those skanky Miley Cyrus photos) directed video was supposed to debut last month, but according to a statement Gaga made today on her LittleMonsters website, “It is late because, just like with the Applause video unfortunately, I was given a week to plan and execute it.”
Gaga goes on to say that certain unnamed people in her inner circle “betrayed” her.
“Millions of dollars are not enough for some people.” Gaga wrote. “They want billions. Then they need trillions. I was not enough for some people. They wanted more.”
Things haven’t seemed to have gone right for Gaga at all since the release of ARTPOP. The album failed to live up to commercial and critical expecations as Mother Monster has been overshadowed by the likes of Miley and Lorde. Gaga seems to place the blame on others.
“The next few months of ARTPOP will truly be its beginning,” according to Gaga. “Because those who did not care about ARTPOP’s success are now gone, and the dreams I have been planning can now come to fruition.”
Let’s hope that’s the case.
