Eminem’s Boyhood Home Damaged By Fire

First, Eminem caught fire earlier this week for using anti-gay lyrics on his recent single “Rap God” and now his childhood home has caught fire. Literally.

Eminem House

The 747-square foot Detroit home went up in flames yesterday afternoon. Investigators aren’t sure what caused the fire, which was quickly put out by local firefighters.

If the house looks familiar, that’s because it was featured on the cover of both The Marshall Mathers LP and the just released The Marshall Mathers LP 2 albums.

Eminem’s mother Deborah Mathers (he may have mentioned her once or twice on his albums) owned the house until 2003. One of the owners after Ms. Mathers tried to sell the house for $500,000 on ebay after learning that Eminem used to live there. Shockingly, that individual failed to receive a single bid.

Well, at least Em has some good news on the horizon. The Marshall Mathers LP 2 is a lock to debut at the top of the Billboard 200. And honestly, the way Em raps about his upbringing, he might actually be pleased to see that house destroyed like Jenny’s house in Forrest Gump.
