Led Zeppelin and Madonna Sadly Have Something In Common

I never in a million years thought I’d be writing about Madonna and Led Zeppelin in the same article, but here it goes:two of the founding fathers of metal, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, and  the star of “Swept Away” received nominations for the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Say what?

Page and Plant, of course, are more than worthy. But why the hell did it take so long to give them a nomination??? Zeppelin’s first album was released in 1969! Ha. 69.

But Madonna? Are you kidding me? Her songs are terrible! Even my daughter doesn’t even listen to her crap and she listens to a lot of crap!!!

And it’s not like the rest of the nominees are any great either.  John Mellencamp? Blech! Cyndi Lauper? Blech! Sade? All right I have soft spot for “Smooth Operator.” Leave me alone!

Hey, Songwriters Hall of Fame, ever heard of Slayer??? I mean, how can argue you with lyrics like “Praying for the end of your wide awake nightmare” and “Raining blood/From a lacerated sky/Bleeding its horror/Creating my structure/Now I shall reign in blood!”

Poetry, baby! Sick filthy poetry!

Do you agree with Metal and think Slayer should be in the Songwriters Hall of Fame? Let us know in the comments below!
