Soul Train Music Awards Combines Old Skool and New Skool!

I know Country’s been throwing some shade towards the over-abundance of music awards shows, but when it comes to The Soul Train Music Awards I have to pay my respects.

Don Cornelius and the Soul Train dancers did so much for music, I could never diss their legacy!

Last night’s Soul Train Awards brought the old and the new with performances from up-and-comers Wale, Tamara Braxton and “American Idol” winner Candice Glover. as well as legends like Big Daddy Kane, Gladys Knight, and Chaka Khan. Chaka Khan. Chaka Khan Chaka Khan.

The actual awards also brought excitement with K. Michelle earning the upset for Best New Artist over front-runners Braxton and Kendrick Lamar.

Lamar probably wasn’t too upset, taking home the Best Album trophy for his insta-classic good kid, m.A.A.d city.

One of the stranger moments in the show came when CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer made an appearance.

Wolf is no stranger to the Soul Train Awards, having showed off his dougie skills a few years back. Map props to the Wolf! Howlin’ at ya, dog!

I also need to give mad props to Lifetime Achievement Award winner Keith Sweat and Legend Award winner Dionne Warwick. Keeping smiling.keep shining. Knowing you can always count on me, for sure. That’s what friends are for!
