Hear Them Now: Lucius

Sorry, PewDiePie fans and Harry Potter nerds (no offense Nerdcore), this article isn’t about some silly video game or lame movie franchise villain.

Instead I’m hear to talk about one of the most Culkin new artists of 2013. Dudes with sweet mustaches, ladies with bangs, Lucius is essentially your prototypical Brooklyn band.

And while their look isn’t terribly revolutionary, Luscius’ sound is a breath of fresh air. Employing the duel vocal harmonies of not sisters Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig, the band capitalizes on a delightfully enthralling pop sound.

Lucius began to make waves in 2012 with their self-titled EP. After getting a ton of buzz  earlier this year at the CMJ music festival, the band was primed for a major breakout.

Their debut album, Wildewoman, which was released in October, has been featured on many best of 2013 lists (including mine), and for good reason. Of the 11 songs on Wildewoman there isn’t a single miss.

Lucius will be heading back on tour in January and they’re definitely not to be missed live. A few of those dates are already sold out so buy those tickets soon.

Let us know in the comments below which up and coming artist should be next week’s “Hear Them Now” pick!
