Monty Python Reunion Will Take Flight in 2014!!!

I’ve been geeking out harder than usual this morning after learning the news that the five surviving members of Monty Python will be reuniting for a brand new stage show!

That’s right, Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, Michael Pailin, and John Cleese are reviving the greatest sketch sketch comedy troupe of all time (shout out to the late Graham Chapman, you continue to be missed).

The shows are set to take place next year at the Playhouse Theater in London’s West End. An official announcement will be made Thursday during what will likely be a hilarious press conference.

Of course, there are too many classic Python sketches to count, but since this is a music blog, I have to acknowledge some of the group’s memorable songs including “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” from Monty Python’s Life of Brian, “Spam,” and my personal favorite, “The Lumberjack Song.”

Then there was Spamalot, Idle’s 2005 Broadway adaptation of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, which received three Tonys including the award for Best Musical.

This is the first time the surviving Pythons have come together since the BBC’s “Flying Circus” 30th anniversary special which aired way back in 1999.

Hopefully, the reunion show will make its way to the U.S. Otherwise, London, here I come!
