Austin City Limits Festival Back For Week Two

The 2013 U.S. festival season comes to a close this weekend in Austin’s Zilker Park with the second week of the Austin City Limits Festival. ACL is one of the less mediocre fests out there, with a decent lineup and fewer dirty hippies than Bonnaroo and not as many douchey “brahs” as Coachella.

Things kicked off earlier today with sets from personal faves FIDLAR and Savages. Tonight Muse and Depeche Mode go to head in their respective headliner slots though the choice is simple: Depeche Mode>>>Snooze.

While tomorrow has it’s fair share of winners such as Whiskey Shivers, The Warrior Gospel Band, and HAIM (even though they’re a getting a little too popular for my tastes) the day is almost completely ruined by the inclusion of The Verve Pipe. You’re going to need an Olympic-sized pool to contain all the vomit I’ll be spewing if I ever have to corrupt my eardrums with “The Freshman” again.

In case you couldn’t tell I am not a fan of that song. And while we’re at it, Saturday headliners Kings of Leon suck too.

Sunday highlights include Divine Fits, White Denim, and Atoms For Peace as well as a hopefully ironic appearance from Mr. Lionel Richie. Oh, what it feeling it will be to hear the former Commodore bust out his delightfully terrible solo hits.

If you can’t make it to Austin, ACL will be streaming live on Youtube all weekend.
