We Are the World: 5 Of Our Favorite Foreign Artists!

Country’s recent post on The American Music Awards had us reflecting on some of our favorite musicians who were born outside the U.S. Here’s a list of the staff’s top choices for favorite foreign artists!

Techno & Dubstep’s Pick: Armin van Buuren

This was definitely a tough decision, but Dubstep and I decided to go with Dutch DJ Armin van Buuren because we happened to be in a trance mood. Van Buuren’s currently in the middle of a massive world tour. We can’t wait to see him when he comes Stateside!

Indie’s Pick: Tinariwen

I dare you to find a better group of Malian Tuareg musicians than Tinariwen. Actually, don’t waste your time, because that’s impossible.

Country’s Pick: Gord Bamford

After Bieber’s notorious flag incident, I wanted to take this opportunity to recognize another singer from our neighbor to the North that doesn’t give Canada a bad name. Gord took home five Canadian Country Music Awards this year, and they were all well deserved! Plus Gord is such a fantastic name, right?

Scene’s Pick: Asking Alexandria

I luv luv luv a band that makes awesome music and talks like they’re from Oliver Twist. Sometimes I wish I was British!

Metal’s Pick: Gorguts

Yeah, Gorgol is the obvious choice here, but I decided to go with Quebec’s Gorguts who earlier this year released their kick ass comeback album Colored Sun. Oh I how yearn for the day when Gorgol and Gorguts join forces and create GORGOLGUTS!!!
