Hot on the heels of The Golden Globes and cleverly timed right before the Academy Awards, the Razzie nominations were announced today and they were not kind to pop stars.

If you’re not familiar with The Razzies, they’re the annual awards show that “honor” the worst in film. There are plenty of worthy selections this year including worst picture nominees Movie 43, The Lone Ranger, Grown Ups 2, After Earth, and Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas.

Perry was also nominated (hilariously) for worst actress along with Lindsay Lohan, Naomi Watts, Halle Berry, and, much to my surprise, Selena Gomez.

Now, just to be clear, Selena received the nomination for Getaway and not for one of my favorite movies of 2013, Spring Breakers.

While I definitely recommend seeing Spring Breakers (if you’re 18 or over!) I would definitely pass on Getaway (that 2% rating on Rotten Tomatoes speaks for itself). But Selena is not to blame for that stinker. She did her best with a terrible script and director and for that I applaud her!

Lady Gaga got a raw deal too, getting nominated for worst supporting actress for her role in Machete Kills. Again, not a great movie by any means but that had nothing to do with Gaga.

Another actor/singer, Chris Brown, also received a Razzie nomination but honestly they should just give him the lifetime achievement award for worst person.
